Our faculty was opened in 1914 under the name Darülmuallimat in Hisartepe, in a building that has now been demolished. Darülmuallimat (Girls Teacher's School), which continued to teach here until 1917, had very few graduates and was closed before the War of Independence. This institution, which was reopened as the “Bolu Male Teacher's School” on June 21, 1948, in Hisartepe, in a building now belonging to the secondary school, continued its education in the same place until the 1964-1965 academic year.
In the 1965-1966 academic year, the school, which was moved to the buildings called "Bolu City Campus" today, continued its education services as the "Bolu Male Teacher's School", while it was extended to four years in the 1973-1974 academic year. In the 1976-1977 academic year, according to the National Education Basic Law No. 1739 dated 12 June 1973, it was transformed into an Education Institute that trains teachers for the I. Level of Basic Education Schools.
In 1982, with the law numbered 2547 reorganizing Higher Education, it was connected to Gazi University and renamed as the School of Education. The school, which was connected to Abant İzzet Baysal University with the Law dated 03.07.1992 and numbered 3837, was transformed into a faculty in accordance with paragraph (a) of the 16th article of the same law and was named the Faculty of Education.
